Kira Hoang

President

Kira’s love for the Vietnamese breed started in 2015 when her late husband introduced her to Phu Quoc Ridgebacks. In 2023, she traveled to Vietnam to take the largest DNA sampling of all Viet breeds for Wisdom Panel and Embark, taking 115 samples. While sampling the breeds in Bac Ha, where a large Hmong population had Bac Ha dogs and Hmong Bobtails, she was able to experience what the other breeds were like. Their friendly nature and cute appearance quickly had a grip on her heart. She was given her first pair by a renowned breeder in Vietnam, in hopes to gain experience of the breed to share them with the world.

Anny Yang

Treasurer

Anny is a Hmong-American living in the Pacific Northwest with a deep passion for primitive dogs and preserving her cultural breed, the Hmong Bobtail. Combining her skills in graphic design, social media, and photography/videography, she works to promote the breed by educating others and showcasing its beauty. She also dedicates herself to preserving historical records of the Hmong Bobtail and manages the club’s website, proudly sharing the breed’s cultural and historical significance. Her first Hmong Bobtail, a female import from Vietnam named Hua, has quickly become a beloved ambassador for the breed thanks to her calm and gentle nature. Through education and ethical breeding, Anny hopes to honor her heritage and ensure that the Hmong Bobtail continues to thrive for generations to come.

Rainna McHan

Secretary

Rainna McHan is an animal science major in Pennsylvania, who only owned a Phu Quoc Ridgeback before welcoming another dog. They are dedicated hikers, participants in coursing sports, dock diving, and now beginning scent work, rally and weight pull training. After the hard search that lead her to find the breed, she quickly became enamored with their loyalty, bravery, goofiness, protective nature and neutral temperament. In October 2023, she embarked on her first journey to Northern Vietnam in order to learn and experience the breed’s culture and native land, connecting with them deeply on an emotional level. After learning about them from breed experts, VKA judges, members of their culture and other Hmong Bobtail enthusiasts, it fully convinced her that Hmong Bobtails are her heart breed. She was trusted by an acclaimed breeder with importing one of his males, responsibly representing and preserving this precious breed in America. Her goal is to do just that, gain more knowledge and hands-on experience with this breed so she can show the world how incredible they are.
